Education
Pupils see thousands of different plants and trees during an expedition through the Hortus: biodiversity in practice. They learn where chocolate, coffee, and rice come from; how plants survive in different climates; and how plants have evolved.
Education is one of the most important tasks of the Hortus. We offer classical and individual lesson programs for elementary and secondary schools. These programs have been developed in close cooperation with the Amsterdam Nature and Environmental Education Centre. The Hortus also provides a number of university courses for biology students.
Most of the lesson programs are available only in Dutch and can, therefore, be found on the corresponding pages in the Dutch version of the website. For primary schools we offer the Shopping Basket Tour in English.
